Margaret Elaine Carothers, 77, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on August 26, 1947, in Talladega, Alabama, to Willie Baird Neville and Margaret Turner Neville, Margaret brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered.
Margaret spent most of her childhood in Phoenix, Arizona, where she attended Washington High School. She later pursued higher education at Tarrant County Community College in Texas. In 1970, Margaret married Ronald Carothers, and together they embarked on a 25-year journey around the world with the Air Force. Though their marriage eventually ended, Margaret’s spirit of adventure and love for life remained unwavering.
Margaret had a deep passion for nurturing children and dedicated her professional life to the childcare industry. She found immense joy in sharing her love with the world through her work. Her hobbies included traveling, dancing, laughing, listening to music, reading romance novels, and watching British mysteries. Above all, Margaret cherished her time with family, creating countless treasured memories.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Baird Neville and Margaret Turner Neville, and her brother, Willie Russel Neville. She is survived by her son, Brian Carothers, her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Carothers, and her beloved grandchildren, Zachary, Katlyn, and Garrett Carothers. Margaret also leaves behind her sister, Linda Minger; her brother, Gary Neville; and her nieces and nephews: Erin, Scott, Willie, Richard, Wendy, Jody, and Ginger.
A memorial service will be held on January 25, 2025, to honor and celebrate Margaret’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory.
Margaret’s laughter, kindness, and boundless love will forever be remembered by those whose lives she touched. May her legacy of joy and warmth continue to inspire us all.
