Margaret S. Jaynes

January 2, 1926 — June 10, 2017

Margaret Saunders Jaynes passed away on Saturday June 10, 2017. Funeral services will be under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home Grapevine. Services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Waco on Thursday June 15, 2017 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior.

Margaret Saunders Jaynes was born January 2, 1926 in Waco, Texas to Rupert and Annie Saunders. She grew up and attended local schools, graduating from Waco High School in 1943. She met and married Harley Bruce West II who was employed by the Motorola Corp. Following their son Trey’s birth, Bruce was promoted and transferred to Phoenix, Arizona. Her husband became terminally ill and they moved back to Waco where he died. After Trey entered public schools and over the next several years, Margaret attended Baylor University and worked for The General Tire and Rubber Company, WISD, and retired from the Veterans Administration. In 1984, Margaret married Marvin Richardson who she had known many years earlier when their families were friends in Phoenix. The couple moved to Richmond, Va. where Marvin was employed with Travelers Insurance Company. A few months later Marvin became ill and was confined to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for several months. They bought a home in Waco and moved back where Marvin passed away in 1986. In 1991 Margaret met and married Dalton H. Jaynes, a widower and native Wacoan.

Margaret was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved the Lord, her family, and playing bridge with her friends. She loved to fellowship in her sunroom that looked out onto a beautiful yard full of flowers, plants and birds. She will be dearly missed.

Margaret is survived by her son, Harley Bruce West III (Trey) and his wife, Leanne in Colleyville, Tx; and grandson Harley Bruce West IV. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Gladys Prickette, Peggy Villines, and Amelia Mostyn; and her husband Dalton.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Waco.
