Maria Luisa Russell

Maria Luisa Montemayor de Russell, 88, passed away November 9, 2021, at her home in Burleson, TX. She was born March 21, 1933, in Monterrey, Mexico to Severo Montemayor and Consuelo Silva. A visitation will be held at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home 518 SW Johnson Ave Burleson, TX 76028 from 3:00-7:00 p.m., November 12th. Burial will be in Monterrey, Mexico.

During her life span, Maria lived in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Oakland, California, and Burleson, TX. She was an advocate for education and worked in the Latin American School of Monterrey for 20 years. She had a passion for helping the less fortunate through school supply drives so that students could start the school year with supplies in Mexico and for Casa Cielo Orphanage in Honduras.

Maria married Kenneth Russell, Jr. in 1957 in Monterrey, Mexico. Her greatest joy was being around her children, grandchildren, and great- grandchild. They often went on trips together and she was always ready for the next adventure. She had an inner flame ignited by music. You would often find her dancing and singing at any given moment. It filled the home with joy.

Maria was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Russell, Jr. and brother, Gilberto Montemayor Silva.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Marie Jeanette Jones and husband, Leonard of La Ceiba, Honduras; son, Kenneth Russell, III and wife, Edith of Burleson, TX ; siblings, Maria de la Luz Montemayor de Cardenas, Juan Jose Montemayor Silva of Monterrey, Mexico; grandchildren, Jeanette Méndez Sambucetti, David Jones and wife, Scarleth, Joy Jones and husband, Kenny Moncada, Kenneth Russell, IV and wife, Alexandra Griffis, Kevin Russell, and Kaleb Russell; great-grandchild, Alessandro Sambucetti; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
