Marian Audrey Hanifan

March 27, 1921 — April 21, 2019

Marian Audrey Hanifan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was called to be with her Father in Heaven. She passed peacefully in her sleep at home on April 21, 2019 at the age of 98. She was born on March 27, 1921 in Elk Grove, Wisconsin to William Gerlach and Zeta Hines Gerlach. She married the love of her life, John C. ‘Jack’ Hanifan, on October 28, 1946. They were married for seventy (70) years.
Marian and her twin sister attended and received nursing training at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. She joined the military and served in France during World War II with the U.S. Army Nurse Corp.
Marian is survived by her six (6) children, John C. Hanifan and wife Paula, Mary Ann Nelson and husband Don, Colleen Ann Eden and husband Mike, Rose Marie Marsh and husband Jim, Michael P. Hanifan, and Patrick J. Hanifan; her brother-in-law William P. Hanifan and wife Carole; her eleven (11) grandchildren; and her twenty-one (21) great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Jason C. Hanifan and wife Christina, John P. Hanifan, William G. Hanifan, Jessica Eden Lockwood and husband Tyler, Whitney Eden, Jacob Marsh and wife Tonya, Jenna Marsh Bates and husband Kevin, Jackie Marsh Lucas and husband Luke, Aaron Hanifan and wife Jennifer, and Shawnassie Hanifan. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Marie Gerlach North, her brother, William Gerlach, and one of her grandsons, Eric D. Hanifan. Marian has passed, but will never be forgotten. She was a role model to all that knew her as a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother.
A viewing will be held at the Lucas Funeral Home, Hurst, TX on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 6-8PM. A Funeral Mass will be said at St. Michael Catholic Church, Bedford, TX, on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at 10:30AM, followed by the burial service at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery at 12:30PM.
