Marie Watson Cole, a beautiful, kind, loving and selfless mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to everyone she met, joined her parents and siblings in heaven as Jesus welcomed her home.
Marie was born in Dora, Alabama on May 16, 1929, to Cecil and Claudia Watson. She was married in 1946 to Clyde Cole, the father of her three children. Although divorced, they remained friends and she was at his bedside when he passed away in 2017.
Marie had many careers in Akron, Ohio including working in Polsky’s credit office at Summit Mall. In Fort Worth, Texas her favorite career was working as an apartment manager. Through the years she became heavily involved with the Tarrant County Apartment Association and earned the professional Certified Apartment Manager (CAM) designation. Her great joy was teaching other apartment managers the intricacies of management and helping them earn a CAM.
Marie will be missed by her loving family including daughter Lynda (Norm) Downing, sons Randy (Patty) Cole and Jeff (Christine) Cole and grandchildren Missy, Bo, Jenny, Denise, Angie, Bonnie, Cameron, Mackenzie, Joseph, Larry, Jackie, and Zack. Marie is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lilly Earle, Marie’s caregiver for the past seven years, also grieves the loss of her great friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Cecil Watson, Jr., sister Margaret Wright and brother Jim Watson.
A graveside internment service will be held Saturday, August 27 at 11 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Marie’s honor to a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held in Texas on a date to be determined.
