Marion Howard Alexander

April 16, 1937 — December 26, 2024

North Richland Hills, Texas

Marion H. Alexander peacefully passed away at home on December 26, 2024, at the age of 87, after a five-year battle with prostate cancer.

Marion was born at home to William Clyde and Lena "Tessman" Alexander on April 16, 1937, in Bangs, Texas.

After attending high school, Marion began working as a "roughneck" in the Texas oil fields. He joined the United States Army in 1958 and received an honorable discharge in 1960. After his military service, Marion returned to the oil fields for one year before working at a lamp factory in Bangs, Texas, where he worked until 1963. Encouraged by his wife, Marion joined the family business, Horne Plumbing, in Brownwood, Texas. He dedicated the next forty years to the plumbing industry and retired from the Dallas VA Hospital in 2002 after thirty years of service.

In 1960, Marion met the love of his life, Jeannette, on a whim at a local Drive-In. After pursuing Jeannette for two years, they married in Abilene, Texas, on June 1, 1962. They started their family in Brownwood before moving to DeSoto, Texas, where they spent the next 53 years building a life together.

Marion dedicated his life to his family and had a deep passion for the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed watching classic westerns, playing golf, and listening to country music. In his free time, he loved working on puzzles and staying active. Marion always welcomed the chance to meet friends for a cup of coffee. He was a devout Christian who found comfort and strength in his faith.

In 2022, Marion and Jeannette relocated to an independent senior living community in North Richland Hills, Texas, closer to their beloved church, Christian Life Tabernacle. This move reflected their unwavering commitment to their faith and desire to remain active members of their church community.

Marion is survived by his two children, Melanie Hegwood and Glen Alexander, and wife, Deja; two grandchildren, Heather Koen and Zachary Jones; and two great-grandsons, Ethan and Parker Koen.

Marion was preceded in death by his loving wife, Lillian Jeannette Alexander, mother and father, Clyde and Lena Alexander; brothers and sisters, Ida Mae Poprick, Maggie Lee Davenport, L.P. "Pete" Alexander, Clarence "Guy" Alexander, Clyde Burns "C.B." Alexander, and Charles "Charlie" Ray Alexander.

He will be deeply missed but lives on in the countless memories and hearts of those he touched. A visitation will honor his life and memory at Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas, 76053, on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 2 to 4 p.m.
