Reverend Marion Pearl Dixon was born to the late Dave Campbell and Essie Mae Taylor on September 28th, 1944 in Montgomery, Alabama. She was the third of four children born to this union. Marion was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dave Campbell Jr. of Warren, Ohio. Marion confessed Christ at an early age and joined the historic Holt Street Baptist Church, Montgomery, Alabama.
Marion attended Alabama State University. In 1966 she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education. In 1970 she attended Indiana State University in Gary, Indiana where she obtained a Kindergarten Certification. She earned a Master of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1974 and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling in 1990.
Marion passed on to eternal glory on October 5th, 2023. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Edgar Dixon; her two children, son Vincent R. (Lorraine) Sanders of Las Vegas, Nevada, and daughter Carla E Randle of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister Minnie Mack of Carol Stream, Illinois; her brother Douglas (Rita) Campbell of Oxford, Alabama; her eleven grandchildren, Sonya A. Hill and Serena M. Hill of San Francisco, California, Sajonia L. Gillette of San Francisco, California, Sergei R. (Leaunna) Sanders of Lompoc, California, Shariah R. (Sanders) Ouellette of Las Vegas, Nevada, Vincent R. (Katie) Sanders Jr. of Las Vegas, Nevada; Arimralh Randle, Osiruis Randle, Akasha Randle, Anuvia Randle and Anint Randle of Atlanta, Georgia; nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.
Marion was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She loved her church and community. She as a source of inspiration to all that came in contact with her.
Marion’s passing as impacted us all. It has left us with an immense void, the effects of which we shall feel for a long time. While she is no longer with us, she has left us an outstanding example, a blueprint of how we all should carry on in an ever-changing world. Marion will be missed by all those she touched while striving to make the world a better place.
