Mark Darla Burns

August 24, 1955 — July 19, 2013

BEDFORD -- Husband and wife, Mark Steven Burns and Darla Jean Whitehead Burns of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 19, 2013, at the ages of 57 and 53, respectively. Mark was born Aug. 24, 1955, in Dallas to Thomas Rogers Burns and Wanda Velta Perry Burns. Darla was born Nov. 3, 1959, in Dallas to F.W. Whitehead and Doris Jean Starnes Whitehead.

Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday, July 26, at Colleyville Assembly of God in Colleyville. Interment will be in Isham Cemetery in Fort Worth. Visitation: The Burns and Whitehead families will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Colleyville Assembly of God.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for the daughters of Mark and Darla. Please make checks payable to Kathleen Whitehead and mail to P.O. Box 448, Bedford, Texas 76095.

Mark worked in the auto body repair industry throughout his career and worked for Caliber Collision for almost 20 years. Darla was a food service provider for H-E-B ISD. Mark and Darla met at Bible Way Chapel and married on Feb. 24, 1977. Mark and Darla were active members of Hurst Assembly of God Church. Darla was involved in music ministry throughout her life, and was a member of the church choir. Mark also supported Darla's ministry in a sound/technology technician capacity.

Those who celebrated their arrival in heaven are Mark's parents, Thomas and Wanda Burns; Darla's father, F.W. Whitehead; brother, David W. Whitehead Sr.; daughter, Wendi Burns.

Survivors: Mark is survived by his brother, Tom Burns; brother, Alan Burns and wife, Valerie; brother, Darrell Burns and wife, Faye; sister, Dianne Scholl and husband, Leonard; sister, Delores Suggs. Darla is survived by her mother, Doris Whitehead; brother, Don Whitehead and wife, Kathy; sister-in-law, Patty Whitehead. Both are survived by daughter, Elaina Brown and husband, Dwayne; daughters, Kenya Burns, Cami Burns and Brealyn Burns; granddaughter, Makenzie Brown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
