Mark Alan Flora of Grapevine, Texas passed away with his family at his side on November 1, 2017 at the age of 56.
Services: Visitation to be held on November 6, 2017 from 6 to 8pm at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. The celebration of life will be held on November 7, 2017 at 1pm at First United Methodist Church of Hurst.
Mark was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on May 13, 1961 to Keith and Barbara Flora. He graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1979. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue University in 1984, and quickly moved to the great state of Texas. While at Purdue Mark met his future wife, Leeann while waiting to be introduced to a different girl for a blind date. Needless to say, that blind date never happened! Mark and Leeann were married on May 25, 1985. Mark loved airplanes and enjoyed working in the aerospace industry for over 30 years. However, his true joy was found in his family. He was dedicated to his three children and so very proud of their accomplishments. He was an avid Rush fan, a lover of old movies and a huge Star Wars, Star Trek and James Bond enthusiast. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst.
The family would like to thank the caregivers in the intensive care unit at Beaumont Hospital – Wayne, Michigan for the excellent care they provided Mark in his final days. They were our angels.
Memorials in Mark’s honor may be given to FUMC Hurst Youth Missions or to Tarrant Area Food Bank.
Mark’s mother Barbara, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Leeann, his son Carson (Lyndey) Flora, daughter Blaire Flora and son Holden Flora, his father, Keith (Annas) Flora and brother Doug (Holly) Flora and numerous family and friends.
