Mary Ann Alonzo of Keller, Texas passed away peacefully on June 4, 2022 at 3:00 AM with her two daughters by her side. She will always be remembered as a selfless, loving, and giving mother to all who knew her. She was an EVERY person mom. This is why so many called her not just "Tita Ann" but also "Mama Ann."
Mary Ann was born in Aparri, Cagayan on April 30, 1949 to Emiliano Siriban and Rosa Mabbun. She grew up in the northeastern part of the island of Luzon along the Philippine Sea. She moved to Tuguegarao City for college and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Saint Paul College of Tuguegarao.
For 42 years, she taught 5th Grade English and Science. She was a well respected educator who had a track record of helping struggling students succeed in school. She always took pride in having contributed to the success of her former pupils. She was also an active leader of the Girl Scouts of the Philippines and served as a Lay Minister at St. Peter's Cathedral. She married her college sweetheart, Simeon (Jojo) Alonzo in 1970. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Mona (Joann) and Prudy.
Mary Ann immigrated to the USA in 2010 and lived in Keller, TX. She watched her two grandsons grow up and was well loved by her closely-knit Filipino community. Together with other Filipino seniors, she volunteered as a Lay Minister at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Her warm smile, vibrant personality, and generosity of spirit endeared her to all who knew her.
