Mary Linda Atkins

Mary Linda Atkins, of North Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 in Keller, Texas. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, friend and colleague to all that knew and loved her. She was born on Sunday, April 29, 1945 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Robert Henry and Edna Earl Plummer.

Mary attended Sinton High School in Sinton, Texas and graduated in 1963. She then went on and received her Bachelor of Science in 1967 and her Masters of Science in 1987 from the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. Mary retired from her full-time teaching career at Haltom High School in May 2003. She subsequently served as a substitute teacher on a regular basis until 2019, primarily in family, consumer science and career preparation classes. Mary belonged to a few organizations that she was proud of; Birdville Association of Retired School Personnel, Texas Retired Teachers Association and Vocational Home Economics Teachers Association of Texas.

She was an avid reader, and loved sewing. Mary attended all sporting and extra-curricular events for the grandchildren. She was a devoted 56-year member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church in NRH, as well as a long time Kindergarten Sunday School teacher, Church elder, and many other roles in the church.

Mary is survived by her son; John Atkins and wife, Stephanie and grandchildren Brooke and Alex; daughter Carol McDaniel-White and husband Marty and grandchildren Presley, Hudson and Kaden.
