HURST -- Mary Beth Conners, 94, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016, in North Richland Hills.
Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at Legacy Church of Christ, 8801 Mid-Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills. Burial: Bridgeport Westside Cemetery. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Lucas Funeral Home 1321 Precinct Line Rd., Hurst.
Mary Margaret Elizabeth James Conners was born April 29, 1921, in Waurika, Okla., the third child of William Montgomery James and Helen Lucille Davis James.
She attended Melrose School until it was incorporated into the Waurika school system. She then attended Waurika schools, graduating salutatorian of the class of 1941.
She married Gene Carter Conners on June 21, 1941, in Waurika. They moved to Bridgeport in February 1948 and lived there until 1960 when they moved to Fort Worth. They moved to Hurst in 1962 and lived there until 1987. She lived the remainder of her life in North Richland Hills and Hurst.
She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ, having been baptized in Bridgeport around 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Montgomery and Helen Lucille Davis James; her son, Jimmie Gene Conners; sisters, Willie Lucille James, Alma Lavera Johnston, Helen Wilson Odell Fortner; brother, David Lawrence James; half brothers, Andrew Clayton James, James "Jimmie" James, Amos Emmit Roland James, Noble Raymond James and Frank Montgomery James; half sisters, Mattey E. James, Marthia Egalie James and Eva James Hurst; and former husband, Gene C. Conners.
Survivors: She is survived by daughter, LuRee Proctor and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Gina Marie Proctor Jeffries and husband John, Troy Gene Conners, Jeffrey Leon Conners and wife, Becky, Richard Andrew Proctor and wife, Madelon; great-grandchildren, Joshua Michael Steinhauer, Justin DeForrest Jeffries, Jacob Anthony Conners, Lindsay Renee Conners, Emily Madelon Proctor, Abigail Rebekah Proctor and Samantha Jayne Proctor and Caroline Billye Proctor; sister, Lois Pricilla Thurman; brothers, Henry Clay "Jack" James, Benjamin Browning James; and many nieces and nephews.
