Mary Christine (Davis) Dyson
June 26, 1930 — September 13, 2022
Mary Christine (Davis) Dyson was born June 26, 1930. Known as "Chris" she grew up in a large, loving extended family in Turnersville (Coryell County), Texas.
She graduated from Turnersville High School where she was a member of the Girls Basketball Team.
She married Lewis L. ("Vern") Dyson of Gatesville, Texas in 1949. He had recently completed his military service.
Chris and Vern raised their family of 3 daughters in Hurst and Bedford, Texas. Vern worked at Bell Helicopter for 30 years. Chris was a homemaker. In the 1970's, Chris decided to go to college. Her 2 older daughters were attending college at the same time. Chris graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education form the University of North Texas, and soon started her teaching career. She taught for 13 years and retired from Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD. She loved being a teacher and her entire family was very proud of her accomplishment.
Chris had artistic talent and spent many hours creating beautiful porcelain dolls. She had a large collection of dolls molds, glazes, brushes, a kiln, doll wigs, and fabric and trim for doll dresses.
Several years after her beloved husband passed away in 2008, Chris sold her home where she had lived for over 50 years, gave away most of her possessions, and moved in with her youngest daughter in Hurst.
Chris was a member of First Baptist Church in Hurst for nearly 60 years.
Her health declined over the past few years, and she passed away September 13, 2022.
A graveside service will be held for the family in Coryell County.
