Mary Ruth Ponder-Fleming, 88, passed away March 4, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be from 9:30am until 10:30am, Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, 518 SW Johnson Ave, in Burleson. Funeral services will follow at 10:30am. A graveside service will be at 3:00pm at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuell Blvd in Dallas.
Mary was born March 19, 1933 in Fort Worth to Richard and Lena (Robinson) May. She grew up in Texarkana, Texas and graduated from Texarkana High School in 1951. Mary married Clarence Ponder in 1951 in Texarkana, and they were happily married for 27 years. She married Lyndel J. Fleming in 1983, in Irving, and they were happily married for 32 years. She was a member of Assemblies of God Church, and she enjoyed sewing, reading, and doing puzzles.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Lena May; husband, Clarence Ponder; husband, LJ Fleming; brothers, RC and James May; sisters, Edna Turner, June Foster, and Jeanette Wansley, and daughter, Cathie McGary.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Vicky McPherson and husband, Ronny of Cleburne and Penny Ponder of Keller; son, Steve Ponder and wife, Kathy of Grapevine; sister, Hazle Bohon of Burelson; grandchildren, Jennifer Forrester and significant other, Sid Harris, Joshua Hill and wife, Allison, Preston Pavlat and wife, Shauna, Julie Ann Lemke and husband, Greg, Clifford McPherson and significant other, Talia Walton, Andrew Ponder, and Shannon Peters; great-grandchildren, Jack and Megan Harris, Richard Thayer, Elizabeth Hill, Anasten and Adien Pavlat, AnnaLena, Allison, Zoe, Harrison, and Zack Lemke, Able McPherson, and Christian McGraw; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
