Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Gowing

Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Milanovich Gowing, age 99, of Keller, TX, died Thursday, January 21, 2016. Betty was born May 5, 1916, in Indianapolis, IN, to Perry and Augusta Templin. Betty is survived by son Robert Milanovich, (Jayne), of Lynchburg, VA; son George Milanovich, of San Diego, CA; daughter Barbara Milanovich, (Rod Erdmann), of Lafayette, CA; daughter Margaret George, (Kenneth), of Southlake, TX; sister Florence Legans of Franklin, IN; six grandchildren; two great grand-children and several nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Anthony Milanovich, died in 1968.

Betty graduated from Indiana State Teachers' College and received a Master’s degree from Buffalo State Teachers' College. She enjoyed teaching first graders in Indiana and at Windermere Boulevard Elementary School in Amherst, NY. She retired in 1979 and moved to Chapel Hill, NC. Seven years later she moved again, to the west coast of Florida, where she met and married Colonel Delmer Gowing, Jr. (retired, USAF) in 1997 at age 81. They traveled often and had great times boating on the Intracoastal Waterway.

After the death of her husband, Betty moved to Keller, TX, to be near daughter Margaret and family.
