Mary Lou Johnson, 89, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 4, 2022. She was born August 26, 1933 in Grapevine, Texas on the family farm, the daughter of the late Dorothy Johnson and John Cummings and raised by her late grandparents William and Mary Alice Harwell. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Johnson and two grandsons, Christopher McDonald and Joe Davenport. She came from humble beginnings and was no stranger to hard work. In her teens, she spent time working in the cotton fields and part-time at a pharmacy to help out her family. She worked for Texas Instruments where she retired after 20 years and eventually went on to work for Mary Kay and Stacy’s Furniture. But, what kept her young was being a single Mom to her seven children that she loved dearly. She had to be Mom and Dad. A job she did so well as family was her priority. Her love knew no bounds as she was an even greater Grandmother. Her house was “home” to all who entered. She welcomed everyone with a smile and always offered a seat at her table. She was known for her second to none Thanksgiving dressing and her delicious breakfasts. Rarely was there a time her home didn’t smell like bacon. She was a faithful follower of Jesus and knew he was preparing a place to call her home. Life will not be the same without her. She is loved beyond measure and will be missed immensely. She left a legacy that will be truly hard to match. Mary is survived by her seven children, Mary Ann Trevino, Randy McDonald, Lowanna Riddle, Patricia McCuin, Howard McDonald, Gary McDonald and Larry McDonald; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers are Josh Azimi, Hunter McDonald, Blake Davenport, Austin Hughes, Noah Gilliam and Gavin McKenzie
