BEDFORD -- Mary Catherine Pelton, 86, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3713 Harwood Road, Bedford. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst.
Mary was born in the backroom of Stuck, County Leitrim, Ireland. She lived with her mother, Helena, and brother, Thomas, until 1930 when they moved to New York City to join their father, Cornelius. Eileen was born 2 years later. She lived in New York City with her family until 1939 when they went to visit Ireland but ended up staying until 1948 because of World War II. She moved back to New York City in 1948 and met Leslie Pelton in 1956. They had many good times in the city and married April 22, 1961. Life was good and happy with their three girls and eight grandchildren, a life full of fun and travel.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Pelton.
Survivors: Daughters, Helayne Byers and husband, Doug, Jackie Pelton-Owen and husband, Scott, and Ann Pelton-Moore and husband, Matt; grandchildren, Daniel, Maeve, Conor, Moira, Jack, Niall, Devin and Izabella; sister, Eileen McNeill and husband, William, and the McNeill family: and a host of dear friends.
