Mary Louise Spangler, age 93, and a resident of Grapevine since 1963 passed away June 25th, 2016. A private graveside service and burial will be held in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville at 10am on June 30th, 2016 under the direction of Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine.
Ms. Spangler was born December 27, 1922 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, but lived all of her early life in Brinkley, Arkansas. She graduated as valedictorian from Brinkley High School and attended Arkansas State University in Conway, Arkansas. While in High School she won state honors in piano.
As a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grapevine, she served in many areas. She had been an organist, pianist, choir member, a member of the Round Table Sunday School Class, a member of the organization and program committee of “New Horizon,” and worked in the thrift shop. She was active in the community, music in schools, and a member of “Hardy Listeners” book review club in Dallas. Ms. Spangler retired in 1991 as a sales associate in the jewelry department for Neiman Marcus at North Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jim & Eunice Mitchell of Brinkley, Arkansas; a daughter, Cynthia Spangler of Grapevine, Texas; a sister, Ann Nordic of Columbus, Georgia; and a son, Bill Spangler, Jr. of Covington, Georgia.
Survivors inclue a son, Steve Spangler and wife, Michelle of Marietta, Georgia; a daughter-in-law, Lolita of Covington, Georgia; three Grandsons, Seth, Sam and Jim Robert of Grapevine, Texas; four Granddaughters, Louis of Covington, Georgia, Stephanie, Jamie, and Anna Spangler of Marietta, Georgia; and five Great Grandchildren, Cynthia Robert of North Richland Hills, Texas, Kaylyn Robert of Roanoke, Texas, Matthew and Reagan Robert of The Woodlands, Texas, and Abby Su Rader of San Francisco, CA.
