Mary Ellen Turner passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in Bedford, Tx. She was 83 years old. Born on August 17, 1941, in Kansas City, Kansas to Walter Ernest Emil Mitschke and Maurine Suzanne Scherer Mitschke.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years William S. Turner, her son William Mark Ishmael, and ex-husband, William Fleetwood Ishmael. Mary is also preceded in death by her Father, Mother, sister Dolores M. Patton and her husband Jack Patton, sister Shirley L. Scott and her husband Richard Scott, and brother, Walter Ernest Mitschke Jr.,
She is survived by: Stepson, Bill Turner, Jr. of Gainesville, TX; Granddaughters of Son, Mark Ishmael and ex-wife, Terry Ishmael - Brittney and Daniel Miller with Dakota and Brandon of Royse City, TX; Ashleigh and Derek Moore with Alyssa and Emma of Quinlan, TX. Mark Ishmael and ex-wife, Margaret Cassidy - Markie and Farold Hunter with Diana and Farold Jr. of Kaufman, TX; Son, Jeff W. Ishmael and ex-wife, Susan Ishmael - Emma and Jack Ritchie with Nathanial of Nottingham, England; Natalie Ishmael of Peterborough, England. Jeff Ishmael and ex-wife Margaret Keeling, Mackenzie Ishmael of McAlester OK;
Daughter, Laura M. Ogg and ex-husband, Mark Bradshaw - Kali R. Bradshaw with Hunter Henderson from Bedford, TX; and Chris W. Bradshaw and Ashley Elrod of Fort Worth, TX. Laura and Lin Ogg - Josh and Ashley Ogg with Kaiden and Kennedy Ogg of Arlington, TX; Tyler and Chanelle Ogg with Casimir Fombo-Ogg of Midlothian, TX; Kelsey Ogg with Wyatt Ogg-Mias and Emery Medlyn of Austin , TX
Surviving her as well are numerous nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Mary’s motto was “busy hands, happy hearts”. She kept busy quilting, crocheting, sewing, playing cards, traveling, reading, and shopping. She was also very engaged with various social clubs.
Her career was with the United Methodist Publishing House in Sales and Marketing. She started as a secretary, being promoted to Manager of Cokesbury Bookstores in Dallas and held upper management positions in Sales in Nashville, TN.
A Celebration of Life is January 18, 2025, at 10 am at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line, Hurst, TX 76053.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Choroideremia Research Foundation.
Mother and Turner will be laid to rest on 1/21/2025 at 11 am at the National Cemetery in Dallas, TX.
