Mary Jane Wilbanks Barnes a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away on May 4, 2019 in Southlake, Texas. Jane, as she was known by family and friends, was born on February 27, 1923 in Breckenridge, Texas, grew up in Dallas; and attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia before moving back to Texas where she married Joseph Culley Barnes. She was a keen bridge player, member of various bridge and social clubs as well as Highland Park United Methodist Church. An elegant dresser, Jane enjoyed discussing finance, receiving calls from “her girl” in the Neiman’s shoe department regarding the new Ferragamos, a nightly highball and good conversation. She was however infamous for her holiday dessert selections. Jane is preceded in death by her mother and father, Aneva Trice Wilbanks and James Franklin Wilbanks; sister Marcella Wilbanks Brison; and daughter, Carol Jane Barnes Hall. Jane is survived by her grandson John Culley Hall MD, his wife Ellie Hall, and their children Tyler William and Lauren Olivia all of Southlake; granddaughter Amanda Jane Hall Head her husband Gabriel Head and their children John Hudson and Molly Jane all of San Antonio; son-in-law John W. Hall also of San Antonio; and her nephew Tom Brison and his wife Cindy of Omaha, Nebraska. A graveside service will be held at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9.
