Marykutty Alexander

January 12, 1944 — November 7, 2024

Marykutty Alexander, loyal wife and caring mother, accepted her invitation to heaven the morning of November 7, 2024. She was home with her family and passed after a year-long battle with cancer. She's joining her late brother George, sister Annakutty and beloved grandson Vincent in Heaven.

Marykutty was born in Alacode, India to Aley Joseph and Ouseph Varkey on January 12, 1944. She worked with a homeopathy doctor from 1962-1965 then entered nursing school, graduating in 1968.

She married Thomas Alexander April 12, 1971. She lived in New Delhi with her husband and daughter until she emigrated to Detroit in 1976.

She was rejoined by her family in 1978 and later welcomed 2 sons while the family lived in Detroit. In the early 80s, they followed the oil boom to Houston, where the family settled and lived. Marykutty earned her RN license, and she spent the next 30 years in nursing, retiring after 25 years at St. Luke's.

Her faith played a significant role in life. In 1992, she began a Pentecostal ministry in Kerala with her church to bring others to the Lord. She loved to cook, especially for her home church family in Houston. For the next 19 years, fueled by chicken enchiladas and BBQ, many lives were touched.

In 2008, to better support their ministry, Marykutty and her husband moved to India permanently after retirement. There, they established more than 44 churches in U.P., Bihar, and Kerala.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas; her brother, Joseph; her daughter, Alex; her son Tom, his wife Christie, and daughter Camella; and her son, Tim, his wife Vidya, and son Timothy.
