Matthew John Adkins ended his Earthbound journey on October 1st, 2018. Matt was a kind-hearted young man, and a good friend to all who knew him. He was a lover of music, animals, the Dallas Stars, Whataburger and Dr Pepper.
Matt was born on March 21, 1999 at Shaw AFB, SC to Jeff and Maria Adkins. He was only a South Carolinian for a short time, as he moved to Germany with his family in June of that year. He lived in Germany for almost 6 years and got to travel throughout Europe before settling in the Fort Worth area upon their return from overseas in 2005.
Matt attended schools in the Keller and Lake Dallas districts, including Lake Dallas High School and Timber Creek High School. He was a proud graduate of Texas Challenge Academy – East, in Eagle Lake, TX where he excelled in several leadership positions and attained his high school diploma.
Through the years, Matt was a cub scout, studied martial arts, ran cross country, played soccer, volunteered for public service projects, and was a DJ, specializing in EDM but was a fan of almost every genre of music.
Matt enjoyed is work at Oliva Italian Eatery as he prepared to enlist in the military at the end of the year.
He’s survived by his parents Jeff and Maria, step-mother Tammy, sister Jennifer, half brothers JT Adkins and Dylan Adkins-Shiflett, nephew Donte Adkins, grandparents Danny & Cathy Adkins and Ramiro Castenada Lopez, uncles Ramiro Lopez, Gregory Lopez, Gabriel Lopez, and aunts Michelle Lopez, Tracy Moss, and Amy Davis, and many cousins and extended family members in Texas and Virginia.
Matt was an organ donor, and because of his courageous decision, four families lives’ will be enriched, and his spirit will live on through those recipients. Matt loved his family and circle of close friends, and could always be counted on for a laugh or kind word. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and Servant leadership that is increasingly rare these days.
