Matthew Gray Aiken

June 28, 1980 — November 5, 2023

Matthew Gray Aiken was born on June 28, 1980 in Fort Worth, Texas and lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Matt grew up in Burleson, Texas. He attended the University of Kentucky on a full debate scholarship. After graduating with a Political Science degree, he attended Texas Tech University and earned a law degree. He returned to Burleson and practiced law for a short time, but his passion was real estate development.
In his professional life, Matt was an entrepreneur and made significant contributions to the city of Burleson. His colleagues respected him for his intelligence and drive, and his work had a lasting impact on the development of Old Town.
Matt was known for his sense of humor, and calm demeanor. He viewed the world differently than most people, and always seemed to see three steps ahead. He loved giving his time to the community. In 2010, he was elected to City Council and served the city for 7 years.
Outside of work, Matt enjoyed sailing, traveling, and spending time with the people he cared about. Whether he was working or relaxing, Matt approached life with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure. His faith and family were the most important things in his life. He loved his family deeply, and fought hard to be here with them as long as he could.
Matt left an indelible mark on all who knew him, and his memory will be cherished forever. His legacy of love, kindness, and the impact he had on those around him will continue to inspire us all.
Matt is survived by Jen, his loving wife, and his four children, Bonnie, Emerson, Evan, and Elise. He is also survived by his parents, Jim and Donna Aiken, and his brothers Jayson Hammett and Corey Aiken.
He will be deeply missed by his extended family, close friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
The visitation service will be held on November 9 at 5:00 PM. The funeral service will be held on November 10 at 11:00 AM. Both services will be at the First Baptist Church, 317 W. Ellison St, Burleson, TX 76028.
