Max David Thompson was called home to our Lord on beautiful Palm Sunday morning March 28, 2021. He was born on February 18, 1934 in Bounds, Texas to parents David Crockett Thompson and Mattie Deweese Thompson. He was a graduate of Powderly High School in 1951. After two years of Jr. College, he enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served two years active and several years in the reserves. After the Army, Max moved to Dallas and worked as a Cotton Classer for 38 years. On January 17, 1961, Max married the love of his life Cludie Dale, and they enjoyed 48 years together.
Max was a hard worker. He loved cutting firewood and helping family out any chance he could; even without asking him to. He was a big “family man”. He and Cludie spent many hours taking the grandchildren to the Fort Worth Stockyards, rodeos, attending their sporting events, dances and musical concerts. They were his pride and joy! Max wasn’t a big world traveler- he always stuck pretty close to home, but one thing was for sure he always said “Paris Texas is the prettiest place on Earth”
Max is survived by his two sons Joel Thompson and wife Denise; Philip Thompson and wife Sharissa. Grandchildren: Alyssa Taylor and husband Dustan; Kaley Wilson and husband Everett, Jabe Thompson and wife Emily, and Jacey Thompson. Great-grandchild: Russel Taylor. Sister: JoNell Conder; Brother: Jimmie Thompson; Sister in law: Ruth Thompson and many nieces and nephews.
