Eddie Lett finished his earthly life and entered his heavenly life on March 26, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janie and two sons Mike of Healy, Alaska and Jeff, his wife Tarrah, plus granddaughters of Keller, Texas. Eddie has two brothers, Dale Lett and his wife Linda, and Douglas Lett, plus two sisters, Dede and her husband Doug Schmitt, and Marsha Lively. All reside in Texas. Eddie has many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews plus great-great nieces and nephews throughout the United States.
Eddie was raised in Abilene, Texas and attended Cooper High School. He enjoyed being the only football player who also played in the school’s jazz band. He received a football scholarship to Tarleton State University which is now Texas A&M University Tarleton Campus. He met Janie, his future wife there, but they didn’t date until just before his graduation. He was quickly drafted into the Army and went to Vietnam in 1968. They married in 1969 and he returned from Vietnam in 1970.
M. Edward Lett was in the financial departments with Hunt Oil of Dallas, Bell Helicopter, Inc. and Textron Financial Corp. During the weekends, he loved being a coach for his son’s YMCA teams— in all sports. He retired early (54) when his division closed at Textron. With his two sons grown and gone, Eddie and Janie open the White Chapel Estate wedding venue in Hurst. He became the officiate “minister” and over 20 years he married hundreds of couples and enjoyed every minute. This last vocation was his favorite. He will always be with us through the bride’s and groom’s wedding albums, cell phones pictures, movies and CDs. He was an all-denominational Christian whose name is on hundreds of marriage certificates. Best of all, his vows were taken directly from Bible scriptures. He hoped that when they listened to their video, or when they heard their vows spoken at another wedding, that they would renew their vows, too.
Memorials may be in his name to your Church, Synagogue or a favorite charity.
