On September 12th, 2023, Mechie Finda Gbollie departed this life to rejoin her Lord and Savior.
Mechie affectionally known as: “Mech Mech”, “Miccah”, “Big Meech”, “Meh-Gee”, “Mech” was born on February 23rd 1996, in Bedford Texas to Sahr Wilton Gbollie and Elaine Jeanette Gbollie. She was the 3rd eldest of their 5 daughters.
Mechie was a graduate of L.D. Bell High School where she was a part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) program and the National Honor Society (NHS). She was also a part of The Blue Raider Band where she played the clarinet and a member of the track and field team where she put her talents to shot put. Mechie then furthered her education at the University of Houston where she joined the Gamma Sigma Sigma sorority, got close to the word of Christ and rebaptized. She received her bachelor’s degree in 2018 in healthcare administration.
Mechie was a believer of Christ and shared his gospel through discipling to all those who crossed her path.
She had many hobbies, crafting, journaling, and decorating being a few. Her talents on the artistic side showed through her love of hair she would try any style and would love doing hairstyles on anyone who would let her. She loved writing poetry, she could paint a picture with her words and make you feel every single emotion. Mechie’s hand’s and pen were her paintbrush. She was also an avid traveler, letting life’s adventures become her playground. Mechie was also very competitive, she enjoyed a great game night with family and friends, scattergories, uno, taboo and speed being a few of her favorites. She was a selfless caretaker who was always ready to help in any situation whether it was lending her ear to listen, using her words to counsel, heal and guide or providing acts of service to others, she was always there.
Mechie was proud of many things, proud of her African heritage, proud to be Liberian, proud to be black. She was proud to be natural and would rock a Fro out of this world! She was proud of her friends who helped her individuality shine bright. Proud of her family, her mom whom she got her gentle nature from, her crafting skills and shared a love of puzzle games with. Her dad who was the hardworking “old man” that put her through school and instilled his Liberian heritage on her. Proud of her sisters who she had a great bond with and helped mold her in different ways. They were always joking, roasting, dancing, singing, playing, uplifting one another. They had each other’s back and were each other’s protector. But probably most importantly, she was proud to be Auntie Mechie.
Those left to cherish her loving memories, vibrant spirit and continue to celebrate her life: Her Parents, Father Sahr and Mother Elaine; Beloved sisters Jasmine, Janell, Melinda, Samantha and Lisa; her cherished Nephews and Neice, Carter, Layla and Kyrie; and many Aunts, Uncles and Friends.
Mechie’s light will continue to shine bright, her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will be heard and carried through all those she impacted through her life. She will be deeply missed but is now Home.
