Meleseini Palatoni Ahoia Latu
November 18, 1956 - January 3, 2022
Meleseini (Kalotia) Latu passed away from this life and went to glory to be with the Lord, January 3, 2022. Visitation will be on Monday January 10, 2022 from 6:00-10:00PM. The celebration of life service will be Tuesday at 11:30am at First Tongan United Methodist Church in Euless, TX. Her burial service will be at 2pm at Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery, in Colleyville TX.
Kalotia was born in Taanea, Vavau, Tonga on November 18, 1956 as the oldest of 11 children to Melematamoana and Viliami Ahoia. She spent her childhood in Tonga where she loved to serve her family, play with her siblings, read books, and sing Tongan hymns. She also went to college to become a nurse, as she enjoyed helping others. She served as a nurse for 3 years before leaving Tonga to seek another opportunity to help support the family still living on the island.
She moved to Hawaii and later to California in 1979, where she met her future husband Ehasi V. Latu. They married in 1980 and moved to Texas. In Texas, they welcomed five children, 2 boys, 3 girls, and later 1 granddaughter and 2 grandsons, who all brought her so much joy.
Kalotia was a very humble, hardworking, loving, generous, and kind woman who sought to serve those around her, especially her family both in and out of the United States. Her big smile and laughter was contagious. She enjoyed bingo, talking with and having a meal with her family and friends. Kalotia also enjoyed watching all of her children and grandchildren play sports (especially football).
She also was committed to her church and work family. She loved to serve the Lord all of her life, and she was a serving member of the First United Tongan Methodist Church for 32 years, where she enjoyed fellowship with family and friends. Here in Texas, she was a reliable, valued member of the Sky Chef LSG team for 39 years.
Kalotia is survived by her five children and their spouses, Ehasi Latu, Aisea and Crystal Latu, Matamoana and Maikolo Taufo’ou, Joanna Latu, and Huavai Latu, 3 grandchildren, Isabelle Latu, Aisea Latu Jr, and Elijah Latu, and 8 siblings Huavai Mikaele, Sineti Unga, Sau Ahoia, Fine’eva Ahoia, Olivia Vaihu, Faaki Tafea, Kolina Langi, and Oseni Ahoia.
Her family has peace knowing she knew and served the Lord here on earth and while absent in the body, she is one in the presence of King Jesus. She will be missed but always in the hearts and memories of all that knew and loved her.
