Michael Fitzhugh

Michael Fitzhugh was born on August 12, 1960 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He passed away on June 8, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas at the age of 58 years old.
Michael was a fleet service clerk for American Airlines for more than 30 years where he had many coworkers, Golf buddies and friends. He truly enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and traveling. Michael graduated from West Mesa High school in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he excelled in track, football and basketball. He received a football scholarship to Western New Mexico University in Silver City, New Mexico. Michael worked for Presbyterian Hospital in different areas and during the summer months was a Camp Counselor along with his brother Oowlan working with children. After college, Michael went to work for American Airlines at the Albuquerque Airport then transferred to DFW airport in Dallas, Texas.
Michael was an avid golfer, where he played in many tournaments for charity and many tournaments throughout the United States. Michael had great golf buddies, Chip, Ray, Wyman, and Steve who traveled with him to play golf and his longtime friend Robert from Albuquerque, NM.
His favorite was Myrtle Beach, Florida where he was planning to retire and build a home on the Golf course.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Ruby Hooker, his brother Johnny Gathright, sister, TommyRay Hooker, and niece Christina Hodge-Perea and nephew Deon Ali Gathright.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four sisters, two brothers; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members and a host of friends, and his American Airline friends.
A service to celebrate Michael's life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 17, 2019 at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel located at 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76053 with Pastor Dennis Dunn officiating.
In lieu of flowers and if desired the family requests donations in Michael's honor be made to the TGR Foundation (A Tiger Woods Charity).
