Michael A. Heidemann

July 3, 1974 — September 7, 2019

Michael Andrew Heidemann died Sept. 7 in Grapevine, Texas, at the age of 45. Michael was born July 3, 1974, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Jack and Carol (Cutler) Heidemann.

Since his youth, Michael was active in his Catholic faith. It was while serving as a volunteer for his parish’s Life Teen youth group on a World Youth Day trip to Rome in 2000 that he met Marie Dunn. The two married on January 19, 2002, in Tempe, Arizona, and returned to Rome as newlyweds where they received a blessing from Pope St. John Paul II. They started their family in the Phoenix area and moved to Texas in 2006 where Michael continued his career in the pharmaceutical industry, most recently as a senior consultant. He earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2002.

Michael was involved in sports since childhood. After playing baseball at Dobson High School in Mesa, Arizona (class of 1992), Mesa Community College, Yavapai Community College, Arizona State University and the University of Utah (class of 1997), Michael played for the Sioux Falls (South Dakota) Canaries in the American Association of Independent Professional Baseball.

His love of sports, especially baseball, never wavered as he regularly volunteered with and supported his children’s sports teams, whether by coaching, assisting on the sidelines, or offering encouragement from the bleachers.

In addition to his wife, Marie, and his parents, he is survived by children Andrew (16), Cora (13), Luke (12), Rylee (9), and Kolbe (8); his siblings Matthew (Aeree Cho), Jaime, and Molly; his grandmother, Delores Cutler; his extended family; and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Mildred Heidemann, and his maternal grandfather, William Cutler, the longest-serving president of the Pacific Coast League and the one who sparked Michael’s lifelong love of baseball.

The Heidemann family gratefully acknowledges the generosity and support they have received since Michael’s unexpected death, especially the communities of Holy Trinity Catholic School (Grapevine), St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School (Keller), Good Shepherd Catholic Community (Colleyville), and The Highlands School (Irving).

Michael’s funeral Mass will be celebrated Sept. 11 at 4 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville. A rosary will be prayed at 3:30 p.m., and a reception will follow the funeral in the church hall. He will be interred in the Good Shepherd Columbarium at a later date.

A fund has been established to help defray the tuition costs and other expenses that may arise: https://www.gofundme.com/f/michael-heidemann-memorial-fund
