Michael John Hodge peacefully passed away on January 15, 2025, at his home, holding the hand of his loving wife, Shirley, after courageously and cheerfully battling cancer to a draw. He has now gone to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on October 1, 1948, to Russell and Catherine Hodge, Michael proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he worked as a building inspector for the city of Coppell. In retirement, Michael found great joy in exploring the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex with his beloved wife. Together, they discovered hidden gems, creating countless memories of "running the streets" and finding new destinations to visit.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Catherine Hodge, and his sister, Patricia Collins, and her husband Joel. He is survived by his devoted wife of 44 years, Shirley Hodge; son John Hodge and wife Paige; stepdaughter Janet Pullen and husband Mitch; stepson Craig Straight and wife Paula; grandchildren Matthew Pullen and husband Michael, Rebecca Pullen, Austin Straight, and Michael E. Hodge; great-granddaughter Aubrina Pullen; sister Marilyn McCormack and husband Bruce; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, followed by a service at 2:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas. He will be laid to rest at Smithfield Cemetery, 7935 Main St, North Richland Hills, Texas.
