Michael ‘Mike’ Johnson, 76, of Cisco, TX, died on April 16, 2024.

He was born in Atlanta, GA on November 6, 1947, to David Johnson and Lillian Baird and was preceded
in death by his parents. Mike is survived by his daughter, Audrey Wiggins, Son-in-Law, Garrett Wiggins,
Grandson, Ryan Putnam, Brother, David Johnson Jr., and Sister-in-Law, Mary Ann Johnson.

After graduating from John Grant High School (Lachine, Quebec) in May of 1966, Mike enlisted in the
U.S. Army the following July. In January of 1967, he attended Basic Parachuting School in Fort Benning,
GA ultimately becoming a paratrooper. Soon after, Mike was deployed to Vietnam and served two tours
in the war, the second tour as an Airborne Ranger. After the war, Mike continued his service as a drill
sergeant molding volunteers into well trained soldiers. His places of deployment included Germany, Fort
Sill, Korea, Fort Campbell, and Fort Bragg. Mike retired from his military career in August of 1988 with
over 20 years of decorated service.

Mike’s secondary education included an Associate in Science from the University of the State of New
York in 1978 and he graduated Cum Laude from Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC while earning a
Bachelor of Science in 1990.

After his time in the Army, Mike continued serving his country in federal civil service by working as a

Mike was a 30-year member of Phoenix Lodge 8, who were the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons in
Fayetteville, NC. Mike ascended to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason on July 5, 1994. He was a
Proud Master Mason and Shiner who participated in several events which promoted learning, self-
improvement, good deeds, and charitable work to name a few. As a Sudan Clown, Mike took on the
persona of “Henry the Hobo” and worked in the World Famous Clown Unit which participated in
parades and functions around the region to raise money for Shriner’s Hospitals. Mike said bringing
smiles to Children's faces made being a Sudan Clown very rewarding.

In November of 2004, Mike moved to Cisco, TX to be closer to his beloved daughter, Audrey, and his
newborn grandson, Ryan. Mike enjoyed his retirement years watching sporting events, shooting at the
Cisco Gun Club, spending time with family, and socializing with friends in his shop. Mike was a proud
resident of Cisco, TX as he often spoke of his caring neighbors and the successes of the Cisco High School football team. Go Lobos!
