He graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1956. In high school Jack played clarinet in the band and was on the rifle team and went to state twice where he personally won many trophies on the team. Between his senior year of high school and going off to college he obtained his private pilot’s license and was able to join a local flying club with his two best friends since kindergarten, John Taylor Bowman, and Keith “Stony” Stonerock. They were finally able to fly together. He continued to fly as he started college at Louisiana Tech University in 1957. Knowing his GPA was not strong enough to keep him from the draft, Jack decided to enlist in the United States Air Force in 1959. While in the Air Force, he became a member of the Air Force’s flying club. Jack rose to the rank of sergeant and was crew chief on a B-52-H and served in SAC. Jack was honorably discharged in 1963. Jack married Gloria Hale in Missouri on October 29, 1970. After that the young family moved to Grand Prairie, Texas. He worked at VOT for 3 years, Hi-Alloy for 8 years in welding sales, and Solar Kanetix for 10 years, and 4 years at Trencor, a land moving company, building their largest drill press and building land moving equipment. He retired in 2008 after 4 years as a hotel engineer.
