Michael David Self

October 15, 1944 — August 9, 2022

Michael David Self was born on October 15, 1944 in Gorman, Texas to the late Helon Marie (Stephen) Self and C.R. Self, Jr. He passed away on August 9, 2022 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Michael graduated from Perrin High School where he played football and Basketball. One of his favorite memories was working as a lifeguard at the Baker Hotel in Mineral Wells while his father was the head lifeguard.

Mike was a manager with the engineering department with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and retired after almost 26 years of service. He continued to work as a right away agent and consultant at Quest Fiber Optics for about another 10 years until his final retirement.

He enjoyed many things in life such as good country western music, listening to Elvis, collecting knives and his infamous Marlboro Lights. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, begrudgingly. However, he was a huge fan of his grandson a Stephen F. Austin University Lumberjack quarterback.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The good Lord gave him the most precious family in the world. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 44 years, Carol Ann Self of North Richland Hills, Texas; children, Michael Lynn Self and wife, Jana of Fort Worth, Texas; Lisa Renee Self of Hurst, Texas; Gina Marie Anderson of Richland Hills, Texas; and Gregg Self and wife, Misty of Fort Worth, Texas; grandchildren: Devin Self, Brandi Klein and husband, Curtis, Meghan Goff and husband, Michael, Casie Self, Hunter Self, Trae Self, Maeleigh Self, and Sawyer Anderson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Klein, Skylar Goff, and Brendan Acosta; sister, Linda Harris of Midlothian, Texas; mother-in-law, Carole Casteel of Hurst, Texas; brothers-in-law, John Smith and wife, Suzie of Eureka, California and Mike Smith and wife, Pam of North Richland Hills, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and a host of friends.
