M. Paul Spain, born March 19, 1946, to Benjamin and Mary Spain in New York City, New York, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 25, 2023. He was having lunch with a close friend when he suffered a heart attack and was immediately taken to Heaven. He lived in New York and New Jersey before he made his way to Texas to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas. While in college he worked in the activities building at Park Cities Baptist Church where he met his wonderful wife of almost 44 years, Graylene Carter.
Paul and Graylene raised their three daughters in Dallas where he grew his company Terra Land Development while being involved in many ministries. During his time on earth, Paul shared the Gospel with incredible passion and grace. He was a warrior for the faith and a mentor to so many. He was a deacon in the church, a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, involved in prison ministries, President of inner-city ministry World Impact Services, and a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, to list few of his many passions, which were always fueled by his love for Christ.
In addition to Paul’s acts of service, he could be found on the Texas coast windsurfing or sailing the Caribbean with friends. After his retirement six years ago, Paul never slowed down and added pickleball to his growing list of interests.
He is survived by his mother Mary Elsner Spain, wife Graylene Carter Spain, daughters Casey Spain Palmer and husband Steven, Brooke Spain Pazera and husband Mike, Lisa Spain Ciesielski and husband Brad. Paul and Graylene are blessed with seven grandchildren, Trey (9) and Harry (7) Palmer, Tripp (12), Charlie (10) and Mary Caroline (8) Pazera, Crawford (7) and Gray (4) Ciesielski.
