Mike Carrillo

February 15, 1949 — July 5, 2024

Hurst, TX

Mike Carrillo entered eternal rest on July 5, 2024. He spent his final moments with his wife and family by his side at his home in Hurst, Texas. Family and friends will celebrate his life on July 13, 2024 at 10:00am. The service will be held at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, Texas.

Mike was born in Ennis, Texas on February 15, 1949, to Maclovio and Julia Carrillo. Beginning his career at TP& L (later known as TU Electric and TXU), Mike made his home in Ennis, Texas until 1984 then moved his family to Decatur, Texas until 1995. After all their children were grown, he and his wife, Lois, moved to Hurst, Texas where Mike continued working at TXU until he retired in 2007. Wanting to continue his professional growth and learning, Mike began a new career in insurance, working for Nationwide a few years and finishing with his son’s insurance agency in 2020.

Bringing most joy to Mike were his wife and five children. He was preceded in death by his son, Steve Carrillo, his parents, and his siblings. Mike is survived by his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Lois Carrillo of Hurst, Texas. He is also survived by his son Richard Carrillo and wife Monica of Ft. Worth, Texas; his son Michael Carrillo and wife Martha of Decatur, Texas; his daughter Celia Carrillo of Haltom City, Texas; his daughter Gabby Carrillo Perez and husband Raul of Farmers Branch, Texas; and his daughter-in-law Amy Carrillo of Ponder, Texas. Mike leaves behind seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one fur companion.

Anyone that knew Mike, knows he cherished his wife and family. He enjoyed family gatherings, sharing stories, trips with his wife, long drives in the country, working outside in the yard, early morning cups of coffee, his beloved pets, and his treasured workshop behind the house. Always finding time to work in his shop, loved ones were often gifted with beautiful crafts and carvings that will be revered for years to come. In memory of Mike, give someone his signature goodbye gesture, which consisted of a hug or handshake, a forehead kiss, and tell them you love them. You are forever in our hearts, Mike Carrillo.
