1930 - 2022

Mildred "Millie" Hazel Banks was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many. After a long and full life, she peacefully went home to our Lord on July 20, 2022, at the age of 92 in her hometown of Keller, Texas.

The youngest of seven children, she was born in Oak Park, IL to Charles and Rose Johnson on April 1, 1930. She wore being an "April Fool's Day" baby as a badge of honor, never taking life or herself too seriously.
She lived much of her life outside of Chicago, Illinois, but also created wonderful memories living in Wisconsin and briefly in North Dakota before settling in Texas for the past 37 years.

Millie was an avid bridge player and even created her own bridge-teaching program for children complete with her own illustrations. Her artistic skills shone through her poetic creations as well as her paintings and graphic drawings. She was also a fierce tennis player and enjoyed swimming and tending to her flower beds. But most of all, she loved to travel the world with her husband, Chuck. Together, they went on frequent cruises, visited several continents, numerous countries, and saw many of the wonders of the world. She served as unofficial co-pilot for a number of years in their private plane that Chuck would use to fly them around the US.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Evelyn Rowley, Ralph Johnson, Ruth Hall, Helen Ross, Earl Johnson, and Raymond Johnson as well as many dear friends.
Loved ones that will miss Millie until they meet again are her devoted husband, Chuck; her three children, Diane Faivre and partner Miles of Amherst, WI, Greg Banks and partner Jody of DeKalb, IL, and Charles Banks and wife Lisa of Bedford, TX; grandchildren Brett, Terry, Alicia, Alexander, and Ashley; and great granddaughter, Collins.

The family will be having a private celebration of her life.

A few months before her passing, Millie was quoting this passage from William Shakespeare's Julius Caesar: "A coward dies a thousand times before his death, but the valiant taste of death but once. It seems to me most strange the men should fear, seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come."
