Mildred H. Turley went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 8, 2019 after a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
Millie, as she was known to her family and multitude of friends, was born November 3, 1922, in Hamel, Illinois, the third of ten children of Adolph and Lillian Hellmann.
She was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone (SWBT) in St. Louis in the mid-1940’s, enjoying her time working and socializing with her older sisters Esther and Elsie. She met the love of her life, Ralph, during that time, and after a wonderful courtship, they married in May 1953. They celebrated their 49th anniversary before he passed away in June 2002.
Relocating to Bedford in 1963 upon Ralph’s transfer as an air traffic controller to the Fort Worth Center, she moved into her new home, where she and Ralph raised their family for the next 40 years. Millie was the ultimate homemaker - a wonderful wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great- grandmother, friend to all, superb housekeeper, and a fantastic cook. Amazing pies were her specialty for which she was known by all.
She had a great time vacationing with her family, especially enjoying an annual return “to the farm” in Illinois with Ralph and their five children to visit her parents and siblings.
She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Keller, Texas for 25 years, where she faithfully served on the Altar Guild.
She is survived by her daughters and her sons-in-law Cynthia Perkins (John) of Hurst, Texas, Susan Brandt (Bill) of Southlake, Texas, Christine Sawall (Paul) of Hurst, Texas; her sons and her daughters-in-law Brian Turley (Tina) of Cleburne, Texas, and Bruce Turley (Jeannie) of Lake Worth, Texas; her sister and brother-in-law, Lucille Masters (William) of St. Louis, Missouri, her brother and sister-in-law, Louis Hellmann (Pat) of Hamel, Illinois, and sister-in-law Marlene Hellmann of Belleville, Illinois; 16 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Sunday, July 14th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm at Lucas Funeral Home
in Keller, Texas. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 15th at 10:30
am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Keller. Interment will follow Monday
