Monte worked as a land surveyor, carpenter, auctioneer and heavy equipment salesman during his 45-year work career where he met many lifelong friends from Texas to New Mexico. He loved the game of golf and his favorite hobby of trading at gun shows. Monte was known by all as a great friend, teammate, son, brother, grandson, uncle, cousin and husband, but his most cherished titles were Dad and Papa.

Monte is preceded in death by his father, William Robert “Billy Bob” Garner; his father-in-law, Lertice Hill; mother-in-law, Evelyn Hill; brother-in-law, Don Hill; and sister-in-law; Deressa Hill.
