Morgan “Mo” Kyle Cassady passed away on August 28, 2018 surrounded by family and friends. He fought for 13 days at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Dallas, Texas to recover from a massive stroke and the complications that followed. He was fifty years old. Morgan and his family are residents of Roanoke, Texas.
Morgan’s legacy is one of faith, family, and honor. Morgan was born on July 16, 1968, the second child of David and Voncille Cassady. He had an older brother; Doug.
As a child, Morgan was athletic and playful with a slant toward “quiet” mischief. He lettered in soccer and football and graduated from Bryan High School in Texas.
Morgan served honorably in the United States Navy from 1988-1992 in squadron VFA 132, Privateers. He received multiple awards and medals including: Sea Service Deployment ribbon with a bronze star, Letter of Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, and Joint Meritorious Unit Award.
Morgan married his best friend since the 8th Grade, Judy Jones, on July 18, 1992 in Bryan, Texas. They have two children: Addison, 21-years-old, and Cade, 16-years-old.
He obtained his Bachelor of Science from West Texas A&M University in 2009. While studying, he was a member of National Society of Leadership and Success. Morgan developed a successful career in insurance technology and proved to be a leader in every place of his employment. Most recently, Morgan was a Business Analyst for Brite Core, before which he served as Vice President of CIS from 2003 to 2017.
Morgan was a talented photographer and enjoyed sharing this passion with his daughter, Addison. Morgan also loved hunting, fly fishing, and golfing. Baseball was a huge part of Morgan’s life. While an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, Morgan especially loved cheering on his son Cade to many home runs throughout the years. Morgan was the Byron Nelson High School Booster Club Treasurer and kept the umpires “in check” with his sports action photography and video playbacks.
Morgan’s wonderful heart for God and for people was evident in his service and involvement in the community. In Haltom City, he and Judy served as the meal coordinators at Haltom Senior Center. Together they founded Project 938 to work with the inner-city kids of Haltom City and provide them a safe space to learn and play baseball. The charity successfully mobilized hundreds of volunteers to renovate a baseball field for the community to use. Throughout the years, they also volunteered with the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation.
Morgan is survived by his wife of 26 years Judy, daughter Addison, son Cade, parents David and Voncille, brother Doug and numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to recognize Morgan’s father David who sacrificially donated one of his kidneys to Morgan for his transplant in 2008.
A funeral service in loving memory of Morgan will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Milestone Church at 201 Mount Gilead Road, Keller, Texas. Attendees may pay their respects before the service in a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. The family requests attendees do their best to carpool as parking may be limited. Following the funeral, a graveside service will be held at the Dallas National Military Cemetery.
