Morris Preston Irwin, 66, of Arlington passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his residence.
Celebration of Life: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home in the chapel.
He was born in Houston, TX on June 20, 1952, to Gerald Preston Irwin, and Elsie Pauline Poindexter Irwin.
Morris grew up in both the small towns of San Augustine and Cleveland, TX. He attended Cleveland High School, but left early to join the Marine Corp. and fight for his country. After boot camp in California he was sent to Vietnam to be a wireman, but was quickly transferred to MP services as an excellent marksman. A year later, at the end of 1970, he was contacted by Red Cross that his father had passed away from lung cancer. They arranged an honorable discharge and shipped him home to take care of his mother and fellow siblings.
He married five times, and had two sons and a daughter as a result of two of those marriages.
Morris contracted sarcoma cancer and was diagnosed in 2015. He remained a warrior, battling daily against the horrors of this dreaded disease until March 19, 2019, when he drew his last breath in his home with his youngest son standing vigil.
Survivors: Wife, Renessa Irwin; two strong sons, Matthew and Nathan Irwin; loving daughter, Erica Irwin; grandchildren, Eli Irwin, Jackson James Wright, Caden Trace Wright, Alexis Wright, Bryson Goodman and Keely Goodman.
The family wishes to extend gratitude to both Amity and Vitas Hospice, and Baylor All Saints Hospital for their extraordinary care.
