Nancie Marie Waldren

January 28, 1931 — February 6, 2017

Nancie Waldren, formerly of Dayton, Ohio and most recently of Keller, Texas made her final move, in peaceful surrender, to be home with the Lord on Monday, February 6, 2017.

She was most recently preceded in death by her younger sister, Natalie (Pat) Callaway, and several years prior by her older brother Albert Richard (Dick) Blakeman and youngest brother Walter William (Bill) Blakeman.

Survivors include her three children- Steven (Keith) Scherzinger of Connersville, IN., Bruce Scherzinger of Vienna, VA., and Linda (Scherzinger) Bardasian of Westlake, TX., along with 10 grandchildren and numerous great-granchildren.

“Miss Nancie” affectionately her title since arriving to Texas, was born Nancy Marie Blakeman in Longbranch, NJ on January 28, 1931 but spent much of her youth in Miami, Florida and later in Key West as a nightclub singer. After her children were grown, she resumed her singing career under various stage names and was the beloved main headliner at the Dayton Racquet Club for over a decade, singing Big Band era tunes and popular ballads and love songs. Even around town or around the house she was known to burst into song in response to a remark or question creating an atmosphere of musical entertainment. Singing in the choir of Vandalia Baptist Church many people commented on her special gift of bringing a hymn to life before their eyes.

Special thanks are extended to the staff of Heritage House of Keller and especially to the warmhearted caregivers from Hospice Plus.

She was fond of animals, especially dogs, so donations either to the ASPCA or Guiding Eyes to the Blind in memoriam would surely delight her. Per her wishes, at a later date, her ashes will join those of other family members in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of northern Florida. One of her most requested and favorite tunes was “My Way”, which is also an excellent summation of her spirit, and why she will be truly missed.
