Joshua

Buddy went to be with our Lord on Friday, March 14, 2025, at age 76. He was born Nathaniel Buddy McPherson on September 6, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Maggie Leona Durrett, Nathaniel Bonaparte McPherson, and his four sisters, Lois Morgan, Jeannette Weathers, Elizabeth Johnson and Helen Woodley. His brother, Dave McPherson, niece, Mary Joyce, great niece, Alissa, her daughter Jasmine and two boys Elias and Stellan Antonio are left to carry his memory.

He and Lynda Kersen met March 14, 1981 in Arlington Texas and were together for 46 years. They joked they were on the longest running “date” and hoped to be in the Guinness Book of Records. They were dedicated to one another and had such fun and made many memories together. His passing fell on their 46th anniversary of the day they met. Buddy was an important part of Lynda’s family as well and will be missed by her sister, A’Ree and husband Bob Hunt, her brother Danny and wife Kim, nephews Kris, Nick, Kevyn, Alec and Nate, along with many cousins.

Buddy went to college in Denton, Texas and received an associate degree in construction management; which he applied throughout his life. He worked in his later years at DeMoss Construction Company for over 20 years. Once he retired, he didn’t retire. He kept busy doing handy-man work for lots of people in the area and made some strong and long friendships. He loved what he did and it showed. His favorite things to do were to camp with Lynda, woodworking (many people own one of his beautiful cutting boards) and garden. He was a long-time member of the Arbor Society and loved getting trees to plant from them.

Buddy was a kind, sweet man. Especially to Lynda. He was there whenever she needed him. He doted on her and was her rock. She jokes she will have to learn how to open her own door or put on her own coat, now that he’s gone. They loved to camp, antique, work in the yard and do home crafts together. He was Lynda’s neighborhood “Christmas Pixie”, decorating her house up so you could see it from space. Yet he did not put a single decoration up at his place. He loved, loved Christmas, but wanted everything traditional – no enchilada’s for him – turkey all the way!

He was a lover of animals, especially cats. He loved his TomBoy – they were a pair. He loved Lynda’s animals as well and always took care of them. Lynda said that was one of the many things that drew her to him was his love of cats.

He was a believer but not a member of a church. He loved to listen to and sing old time gospel music and Christmas carols. Bud and Lynda shared a life together for 44 years and Lynda knows he waits for her in Heaven and she’ll meet him again. We’ve all lost a good, good man.

Date and location of a celebration will be announced at a later date.
