Nelda Sanchez

April 25, 1964 — April 30, 2020

Nelda Martinez Sanchez, at age 56, passed away suddenly Thursday, April 30, 2020, in Hurst, Texas. She was born April 25th, 1964, in McAllen, Texas to Jesus and Eva Martinez who proceeded her in death. As a family they moved to Grapevine, Texas where she attended Grapevine High School and was a Band member.
She started her iconic career of 35 years in the Commercial Construction Industry shortly after graduating high school. From that point on she found her true calling and passion. She made a true art of turning a “no”, “not at this time”, “we already have a supplier”, “you’re not low” to projects being awarded to her which she thrived on that adrenalin rush. She prided herself on knowledge of the industry and thinking outside the box for problem solving in making for a more productive environment for all.
She and her family enjoyed dining out often and quiet nights at home together. She knew the bible inside and out and shared scripture and teachings with her daughter often, as she was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She never met a stranger and always left an impression on the people she met where they never forgot her. She was always original and had an infectious laugh. She used her extensive vocabulary to often offer encouragement, wisdom, comfort and her OPINION. Everyone always knew where she stood and if you didn’t, she would kindly let you know. No one could hold a candle to her whit, charm (where deemed), sarcasm, music or trivia.
She will be in our hearts forever and incredibly missed!
Survived by husband, Jose Sanchez; daughter, Maya Sanchez; sister, Mercedes Ortiz; sister-in-laws, Blanca Hinojosa and Ninfa Salas; nieces, Lila and Rosa; nephews, Martin, Mike, and Mark.
