Nina Beth Drummond Fair, of Covington, Texas passed away August 11, 2023, at the Grandview Nursing Home where she had been a resident for over seven years. She was 92 years old, born on September 4, 1930. She was the older of two children born to W.W. Drummond and Beulah Wilson Drummond in Edinburg, Texas.
When she was five, her parents moved back to the Burleson area. She grew up on the family farm in the Bethesda area, where she enjoyed working with the animals. She attended Burleson schools and completed the 11th grade before meeting the love of her life, Carl H Fair. They were married on June 12, 1948. They share 71 years together. They were blessed with four children, David, Rusty, Phillip, And Louise. Their home places were on Hardgrove Lane until 1986 when the city of Fort Worth took the land to build Spinks Airport. They moved to Covington, Texas.
Carl and Nina were active members of the Covington Church of Christ where Carl served as an elder. Mom loved caring for farm animals, making butter, canning, needlepoint, crochet, genealogy, quilting, and other activities. She loved flying with her cousin, traveling on trains and cooking. She won first place in the quilt competition, at the Hill County Fair in 1988. It took her ten years to design and complete the quilt. She loved Native American children. She made a quilt for each of the children at the Manuelito Navajo Children’s home in Gallup, New Mexico.
Nina had a stroke in March of 2016. She received the best care from a loving and caring staff at the Grandview Nursing Home for seven plus years. Nina and Carl shared a room when he needed extra care. Enough cannot be said for the love they received there. Our family will always be grateful.
