Nina Kaylan Reavis Moore of Burleson, Texas passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at age 75.
Nina was born to parents, Irvin and Lucille Reavis, January 24, 1945, in Baytown, TX. She grew up on a farm in Briggs, TX from age 2 to 10, moved to Edinberg, TX and later graduated from Georgetown High School. Nina was a kindergarten teacher and church financial secretary for most of her career.
She married Harold Curtis Moore June 30, 1962 in Georgetown, TX. Harold and Nina were best friends and did everything together. They spent much of their 58 years of marriage together singing duets, traveling, camping, and enjoying time with their family. They were a great example of how marriage should be.
Nina was a quilter and made beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She was a great cook. Her grandchildren say she made the best spaghetti. She also made wonderful potato salad. She was very giving and always put others before herself. She was the kind of person that would get up before others to make pancakes, then keep them warm in the oven already buttered. Nina received joy from serving others. An example of this, she would get up at 4 AM to prepare coffee and food for Harold and Donnie when they left for a hunting or fishing trip. She said she would go back to sleep, but we knew she never did. She was very selfless and tireless.
Family was very important to Nina. She was a wonderful, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart and soul. They called her Grandma Honey. Named by her grandson Sean because Harold affectionately referred to her as “Honey.”
Nina had a heart for Jesus. She dedicated her life to serving and loving the Lord. Church and God were a high priority for Nina. She was a member of First Baptist Burleson where she enjoyed singing in the church choir and was a Sunday school teacher. She was gifted with a beautiful Alto voice.
Preceded in death by her parents; brother, Gary Reavis, grandson, Sean Roman; brothers-in-law, Glenn Standifer and Charles Forbes.
Survived by her husband, Harold Moore, daughter, Debra Roman and husband, John Jewell of St. Petersburg, FL; son, Don (Donnie) Moore and wife, Jacqueta Moore of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Gabriella Moore, Paris Jewell, Bria Jewell, Keelin Moore and Leighton Moore; sisters, Patricia Standifer of Baytown, TX and Linda Forbes of New Braunfels, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nina was a very special lady. She was loved and admired by everyone that knew her. She will be greatly missed, and forever loved. Heaven has gained a faithful servant and a beautiful angel.
