Nola Mary (Fair) Engelbrecht, beloved wife of Arthur George Wallace Engelbrecht, and cherished mother of three, was called home to her Savior in the early hours on Friday at the age of 87.
Born on November 26, 1936 in Pietermaritzburg, the capital of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Nola was created in the image of God and raised in a loving, tight-knit family. Her parents and sister, who preceded her in death, fostered the values of faith and love that she would carry throughout her life. After immigrating to Texas in 2002, they made their home in Trophy Club to be closer to and engaged with their family.
In 1958, while in Salisbury, Rhodesia, Nola met Arthur, and their love blossomed into a beautiful journey of 64 years of marriage, a union only interrupted by her passing but destined to continue for eternity in Christ. Their relationship was a testament to the scriptural teachings on marriage - selfless love, mutual respect, and an unwavering commitment to one another.
Nola embodied the scriptural calling of a woman, wife, and mother, living out Proverbs 31: “Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” Her devotion to serving the Lord through her roles in the family was the foundation of a lasting legacy. Nola is survived by her sons, Keith Engelbrecht (Kathy), and Michael Engelbrecht (Kim), and son-in-law Gary Steyn (Roza). She was the cherished grandmother of Keegan Engelbrecht (Christie), Kevin Engelbrecht (Kirsten), Jason Engelbrecht (Lindsey), Whitney Marshall (Andrew), and great-grandmother to Talton, Ella, Dawson, Brynndle, Brayah, Owen and Colin. Though her heart was broken by the loss of her daughter Colleen, and grandson Chad, Nola remained steadfast in her faith, trusting in God's eternal promises.
Nola's faith shaped every aspect of her life. She was a quiet yet powerful example of Christ's love, radiating kindness and grace to all who knew her. Her family will forever carry the memory of her warm smile, gentle spirit, and the unwavering prayers that supported them throughout their lives. While she will be deeply missed by her family and friends, they take comfort in knowing that she is resting in the arms of her Savior, and they look forward to the day when they will be reunited with her in heaven.
A celebration of Nola's life will be held for those who wish to say their final farewells on October 4 at 1:00 PM at The Hills Church (Keller campus), 2525 Florence Rd, Keller, TX 76262. http://thehills.org/klr
