Norma Lee Bachschmid was born in Fort Worth, TX in 1928. She died September 2, 2021 due to Covid-19. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics from the University of Texas at Austin in 1951. After graduation, she married Arnold Emil Bachschmid and moved to Lubbock, TX.
She began her teaching career in Smyer, TX, then later in Metairie, LA and for the HEB school district. After her teacher retirement in 1984, she began working as a volunteer for the Texas Health Methodist HEB Hospital for 23 years.
Norma enjoyed traveling with her family and had visited many domestic and international locations She enjoyed nature and learning and experiencing other people's cultures and ways of life. Also, she enjoyed being with people and gave of her time helping family and friends.
Norma was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by Arnold after 53 years of a faithful and happy marriage. She has three children, Becky, Barry, Byron and her daughter-in-law, Elba.
Norma was socially conscious and had great respect for science and the natural world. Her last wish was that people would show respect by being responsible and receive the Covid-19 vaccine and wear a mask in public locations.
