Jeanie was born in Denison, TX in 1931 to Herman and Pauline Essary. She grew up in Denison and graduated from Denison High School. After graduation she worked for the Denison ISD as secretary for the superintendent. She went on to work as a secretary at Perrin Air Force Base, and that is where she met the love of her life, Jerry Davis.
Jeanie and Jerry were married in 1951. They moved to London where Jerry was stationed in the Air Force. Soon their first-born child, Gary, was born there in England. They had a great time living in London and made many friends there.
They moved back to the states in 1954, settling down in Mission, TX. Soon Jena was born and they were thrilled to have a boy and a girl! They moved to North Richland Hills in 1958. Jeff was born in 1964, completing their now perfect family.
Jeanie loved the Lord, and His light shone through her sweet personality every day. Her faith was an integral part of her very being. She spent her entire life praising God and sharing the gospel with as many as she could. She was a true testament of being a Christ follower.
Jeanie was a busy mom who was totally devoted to her family. She also made valuable contributions to the community as a secretary for Birdville ISD, first in the Administration Building, and later at Mullendore Elementary School.
After she retired, she enjoyed playing Bridge with friends and was fascinated with genealogy, which she used to learn about her family history. Travel was also a big part of her retirement. She and Jerry traveled to Hawaii, ventured back to London and had a great time taking several cruises together. She was thankful for having time to get more involved with her church’s Women In the Church (WIC) group, as well as Bible Study Fellowship.
Family was of great importance to Jeanie. She was the best grandmother to her grandchildren, who lovingly referred to her as “Gal.” She took them on trips, helped corral them home from school and to swim lessons, etc. and thoroughly enjoyed having them over for weekend fun.
Jeanie lived at The Wellington Senior Living facility for the last 18 months of her life and was very happy there. Wellington resident Betty Mercer was her first friend there and was always there to lend a helping hand. Betty is considered a guardian angel by many Wellington residents. Jeanie was especially grateful to Angela, the Activities Director, who is dedicated to her career and to the seniors she serves. Jeanie was also thankful to Connie and her girls for all they do to care for those who need assistance in a variety of ways. Connie was very special to Jeanie, who loved her dearly.
While the family was blessed in many ways through the years, the single greatest blessing to their children was the profound love Jeanie and Jerry felt for each other. It could be seen from miles away, felt from up close or at any distance. The children of that union consider themselves most fortunate to have been from those two sweet lovebirds!
Jeanie was preceded in death by her brother, William Essary, her sister, Onilla Essary May, her granddaughter, Shauna Harvey Duff, and her husband, Jerry Boe Davis. She is survived by her son Gary Davis and his wife, Jo, her daughter Jena Snodgrass and her husband, Michael, her son Jeff Davis and his wife, Cindy, her grandchildren, Greg Harvey, Dustin Michalak, Russ Davis, Bryan Michalak, Drew Davis, Darcie Mumme, Wesley Snodgrass, and 11 great grandchildren.
