Oleta LaJuan Lancaster, born Oleta LaJuan Nelson and known as "Ginger," was called home to the Lord on Monday, July 1, 2019, at the age of 90. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and Christian.
Ginger was born on Monday, December 10, 1928, to Olaf Ezra and Virgie Nelson in Spur, Texas; she was raised in the Rising Star-Brownwood area of Texas. She graduated from Early High School in Early, Texas, and she earned a degree in Education at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.
After graduating college, she became a teacher at Santa Anna Elementary in the town of Santa Anna, Texas, and later, she transitioned careers to become a 29-year employee at the Brown County Water District.
On Friday, December 21, 1951, Ginger married William Worth Lancaster at the First Baptist Church in Early, Texas. Together, they raised two sons, William Dale Lancaster and David Nelson Lancaster, in Brownwood, Texas. In February 1991, Ginger and Worth settled in the city of Keller, Texas.
Ginger enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests, including gardening, painting, arts and crafts, square dancing, fishing, camping, football and traveling; however, the thing she truly loved most was spending time with her family.
She will be deeply missed and loved by all who knew her, and she will be remembered as a caring soul, who was nothing short of absolutely genuine. She will be remembered as a strong, honest and dependable woman, who immeasurably excelled as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, the best grandmother, and an overjoyed, enthusiastic great grandmother with twinkles in her eyes.
Ginger and Worth's late sons, David Nelson and Stephen Wayne, preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, William Worth Lancaster, son, William Dale Lancaster, and daughter-in-law, Lee Ann Lancaster, as well as her grandchildren, Travis, Kevin, Brent and Brittany, Travis' wife, Tanya, her great grandchild, Grayson Worth, and cousins Larry Wright and Don Dolberry, along with their wives, Sherry and Glenda.
