Forever in our Hearts
Orene Marie Kennedy was born January 26, 1946, in Atlanta, Texas to the late Rev. Walter Lee Terry and Josephine Lucindi Richardson Terry.
Orene accepted Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior on July 7, 1983. She attended Booker T. Washington High School in Atlanta, Texas. She was a young member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta, Texas. She was a devout member at St. Paul Baptist Church in Pittsburg, Texas before moving to the DFW area. The latest church attended was Cross City Church in Euless, Texas. She joined with a connection group of ladies known as “Women Reaching Women”. Orene became united with Millard James of Daingerfield, Texas. Which they resided in Pittsburg, Texas. She became a loyal housewife. She was later employed at Jordan Health Services and the Pittsburg Intermediate School. She sang with a group which called themselves the “Invincible Gospel Singers”. Oh, how could she sing the High Soprano which would literally knock you off your feet and give you the holy ghost. She still has all of the songs tucked away safely to this day. God will definitely enjoy listening to her harmonious melodies. Also, continuing to give God the glory, praise and worship him daily. Orene “LOVED” big. Anyone that would come in contact could not leave walking away not feeling the love she gave unconditionally. Her love was that contagious. Orene loved playing softball in her middle-aged years. Her hobbies consisted of sewing, making quilts and faithfully reading the scripture. She loved sharing the Lord’s and showed no discrimination. She gave her last and did not once expect nothing in return. Her gift was giving. Giving was a gift from God that she truly mastered. As she lived on she was known as either Momma or Granny to everyone. She never gave up as she fought her battle through breast cancer. She stayed positive through the entire healing process. She was very strong willed and never gave up by any means. To those who have been touched by Orene’s loving spirit in some kind form or fashion, you have indeed experienced a lively Angel on Earth. Now her angelic spirit looks down on us from the glorious Heavens.
She leaves her precious memories with: 5 daughters - Carolyn Delores Green (Kevin) of Jefferson, TX, Jacqueline Larnaye Willis of Duncanville, TX, Lakeisha Marlene James-Nnochiri (Stanley) of Arlington, TX, Melody Tenice Nyaoga (Gideon) of Arlington, TX and Comma Michelle Burton (Michael) of Euless, TX. 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; one brother Walter Lee Terry of Orange, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
